Youth Advocacy Services! Helping people is not an easy job. It requires patience, care (to investigate the need) with skilled people working in the home. Diversity prepares people to utilize gifts that will help others, especially when it comes to helping children and families from usually lower income and poverty stricken homes. I, have obtained a college degree from Hampton University in the field of Psychology(important to meet case management requirements) and completed graduate course work in school counseling. I have fulfilled positions as a residential counselor, sex abuse treatment counselor, juvenile correctional officer, Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Social Worker, Department of Correctional Education Teacher, and Department of Juvenile Justice Rehabilitation Counselor. I am a certified pastoral counselor. In rendering treatment it is important that there are 3 components established: 1)need is determined, 2) a clear strategy on how to deliver the service, and 3) the ability to modify and/or redirect the behavior to bring about change. The success of a case is determined in the ultimate ability of the parents and/or care givers to implement the same strategy when in home services are no longer being rendered. I collaborate with many colleagues and associates who have also worked intensively in the field.

This Non profit organization has dedicated itself to working for the community. With all non profits, funding determines to what extent services can reach families. YAS has focused on making sure needed components for resolution are incorporated which are recognizing individual needs, utilizing case management skills, and behavior modification techniques. •
